A boy from Ufa writes fairy tales to earn money for treatment

10-year-old Matvey Radchenko from Ufa recently published his first book – “The Merry Adventures of Snezhka the Cat and Tyavka the Puppy.”

Children should not be sick. It is terribly unfair when a baby, who in his short life has not yet managed to understand or do anything, suffers and suffers from unbearable pain. But it happens. This happened with Matvey, a boy from Ufa. He has been sick since birth.

Matvey was diagnosed with ketotic hypoglycemia of unknown origin. That is, the glucose level in the boy’s blood falls. Moreover, it falls not just to a critical level, but practically to zero. The less glucose, the more ketone bodies in the blood. Or, simply, acetone.

“Throughout his little life, Matvey has to be constantly fed and fed. Supplement with glucose. Feed at night, ”says the fifth-grader’s mother, Viktoria Radchenko. She raises her son without a husband – one on one with a terrible disease.

“Normally, there should be no ketones in the blood at all. And Matvey has crises when acetone goes off scale so that it corrodes the test strip. Exhausting vomiting begins, the temperature rises to 40. Matvey says that everything hurts, even just breathing. It’s very scary. This is resuscitation. These are non-stop drips, ”the woman continues.

Not only mom is scared, but also Matvey himself. He is afraid to sleep. “Says: Mom, I suddenly fall asleep and not wake up?” Imagine how a mother is to hear this from her son.

But the worst thing is that the doctors still do not understand why this is happening, what is the reason for the sharp drop in glucose in the boy’s blood. Matvey was examined in various hospitals in Ufa and Moscow. But there is still no exact diagnosis.

“Without a diagnosis, I don’t know the prognosis, I don’t know how to treat my child. How to make his life normal, not scary. So that he could, like all other children, run, jump, not be afraid of crises, vomiting, not prick fingers to measure glucose, not wake up in a nightmare at night, not live on endless droppers, ”says Victoria. Two years ago, the mothers handed over a conclusion: the diagnostic possibilities in Russia have been exhausted. Maybe they will help somewhere abroad. But this is not a fact either: from London they answered, for example, that they could not help, because they did not know what to look for.

At her own peril and risk, the mother took her son to Zheleznovodsk – metabolic disorders can be corrected with mineral water. Three weeks later, at the resort, Matvey really felt better: he recovered and even grew a few centimeters, he had an appetite and a blush.

But everything comes back as soon as mom and son return home. With each new trip, the improvement lasted longer: three days, a week, now a month. But where can you get money for endless trips? Mom dreams of taking him to Zheleznovodsk for good. But she will not be able to buy housing there: after all, it really does not work out to work. The child needs constant care.

“I don’t know how to live for a child. He has constant weakness, constant headache. The first words in the morning: “How tired I am …” Matvey was shown on many channels, I hoped that some doctor would respond and heal my poor child. But nobody was found, ”Victoria says desperately.

However, Matvey did not lose heart. He draws and composes funny stories. And he even decided to write a book in order to quickly save up for moving to a place where he could live, like all his peers. First, two stories by Matvey were published in the Murzilka magazine. Illustrations for them were drawn by Viktor Chizhikov himself, People’s Artist of Russia, author of the image of Misha the bear, the legendary mascot of the 80 Olympic Games in Moscow. And now a whole book has come out! The singer and musician Alexei Kortnev helped to publish it, he took all the expenses. The circulation is rather big – as much as 3 thousand copies. And then the second one.

“Matvey asked to sell for 200 rubles. She says: “It’s not expensive, especially for such a good book,” says Viktoria Radchenko.

“Merry Adventures of Snezhka the Cat and Tyavka the Puppy” are sold out like hot cakes, there were many caring people. And the book really turned out to be good: good fairy tales, beautiful illustrations. Now Matvey believes: his dream of a normal life is getting closer and closer. Maybe someday he will really be able to run and play like an ordinary boy.
