All about habits: what, why and how to create

How to develop daily habits

Developing more than one habit at a time sounds tempting, but it’s the wrong approach. Misuse of one habit will have a domino effect on the rest, meaning all your quickly acquired habits will fall. Because of this, depression can begin, from which it will be quite difficult to get out.

Focus on building one habit per month.

Don’t give yourself deadlines: some daily habits will be easier to build than others, no matter how long each one takes.

“Completely fix your habit and don’t back down.

– If you stumble, calm down. Instead of getting angry at yourself, use this as a learning experience. Figure out what caused you to trip, deal with external factors, and try again.

Reward yourself for every habit you acquire.

– Once you develop a habit, remember that it’s time to create a new one.

Visualize

When you go to bed, imagine in colors how tomorrow should go. Instead of wandering from topic to topic, focus your mind on what will go right tomorrow. Planning a new day in advance will help you get into it easier and more smoothly, and you will already know in advance what you are going to do.

Set Your Priorities

One of the main reasons why you don’t achieve your goals is the inability to prioritize. Most likely, you are trying to do too many things from different areas of life at the same time. Ask yourself: what are your goals and what is the main thing? After you decide, discard everything that interferes with the achievement of goals. You can always come back to these things later, after you’ve done what’s more important to you.

Get up earlier

Getting up early helps you take your morning rituals slowly (next point), not fuss, and generally set the right mood for the whole day. Remember, when you are late for work, usually the whole day becomes hectic, nervous and stressful. If you get up earlier, your day will be calm and measured.

Create morning rituals

Wake up and do them in the same order before the start of the day: drink a glass of water, exercise, read a book, and so on. Do things that you don’t normally have time for during the day and do things that make you happier. Morning rituals will help you stay in a good mood throughout the day.

Drink water

Drink a glass of water in the morning to cleanse your body of toxins built up overnight. Not only will this help your digestive tract, but it will also boost your metabolism and energize you. Try to drink more pure non-carbonated water.

Get Consistent

Only 2% of the world’s population can successfully multitask. The rest, even if they take on ten tasks at the same time, cannot do their job well and begin to experience great stress. Start picking one item from your to-do list and focus on it. This is perhaps one of the hardest habits to get into, but it will help you feel less anxious and improve the quality of your work.

Choose minimalism

Clutter in the home and workplace leads to clutter in the head. Clean up your house and get rid of everything you no longer use or have never used before. Don’t feel sorry for things you don’t need, throw them away. You can distribute to friends and acquaintances, send to charity, but do not save what you do not need. Plus, in the future, you will save time on cleaning, because you will not have to dust all this!

Set Online Boundaries

It’s all too easy to get caught up in the online world of status updates, memes, stories, photos, and videos. We are drawn to see what is happening there in the world of the Internet, what happened to that blogger who made a new video, what news appeared on the “jellyfish”, and so on and so forth. And all this takes a lot of time and brain neurons! The most difficult thing is for those who work on the Internet. One of the best daily habits is to check email and social media in the morning and a couple of times during the day. Create specific time windows for your online activities. It’s okay to check your email if you’re getting urgent business from your co-workers or boss, but if you’ve checked and there are no emails, get off the internet and get back to real life.

Create evening rituals

Your evening routine is just as important as your morning routine as it prepares your body for a good night’s sleep. Create relaxing routines (bathing, reading books, etc.) that start an hour before bed and use them as a signal to your body that it’s time to fall asleep.
