Erosion

General description of the disease

Erosion is damage to the upper layer of the epithelium.

Depending on the place of damage, erosion is distinguished:

Cornea – violation of the integrity of the surface of the epithelial layer of the eye cornea.

The causes of occurrence are mechanical damage (injury) to the eye (accidental scratching with a fingernail), the ingress of a foreign object into the eye (eyelashes, shavings from wood or iron, sand, dust) or chemicals, improper use of contact lenses, eye burns, growth of eyelashes in the wrong direction (when blinking, they scratch the corneal epithelium), corneal dystrophy.

The main symptoms of corneal erosion are: fear of light, tearing, redness, pain and burning sensation in the eye, the feeling of the presence of an extra object in the eye, which causes the desire to scratch and rub it, with clouding of the cornea and its swelling, vision may decrease.

Tooth enamel – non-carious damage to the enamel (in rare cases, dentin is damaged).

The reasons for the appearance of enamel erosion: hard bristles of a toothbrush, toothpaste (whitening toothpastes and mouth rinses are especially detrimental), consumption of citrus fruits in large quantities, diseases and disruptions in the endocrine and reproductive systems, lack of magnesium and ionized calcium.

Symptoms appear only externally – an oval tarnished spot appears on the affected tooth. A distinctive feature is that enamel erosion affects only the surface of symmetrical teeth and teeth with the same name (for example, incisors or canines). Erosion of the enamel proceeds in 3 stages (depending on which tooth tissues are damaged): the first stage – only the upper layers of the enamel are affected, the second – all layers of the enamel are affected, reaching the junction of the enamel with dentin, when the erosion reaches the dentin, the third occurs stage.

Cervix – a disease in which small ulcers appear on the walls of the neck.

The reasons contributing to the occurrence of erosion are: diseases that are sexually transmitted, the course of inflammatory processes in the pelvic organs of a woman, injury to the cervical mucosa as a result of abortion, childbirth or sexual intercourse in a rough form, reduced immunity, hormonal disruptions, menstrual disorders, large the number of sex partners and their frequent change, the onset of sexual activity at an early age.

Basically, erosion does not manifest itself outwardly in any way. It can be found when visiting a gynecologist. Some women may have brown or dark red discharge just for fun or during sex, may be painful during intercourse. Also, if the cause of the development was the presence of inflammatory processes or sexually transmitted diseases, then the symptoms arise depending on the disease (such diseases should include chlamydia, ureaplasmosis, the presence of papilloma virus, gonorrhea, genital herpes). Erosion of the cervix is pseudo-erosion (young women and women with increased levels of estrogen in the blood are ill – in this case, the prismatic epithelium extends beyond the boundaries of the cervical canal of the uterus) and true (erosion has a red spot on the background of a mucous membrane that is healthy (has a light pink color) …

Stomach – damage to the gastric mucosa, while not affecting the muscle layer. If left untreated, the disease contributes to the appearance of stomach ulcers, colon cancer.

The reasons for the development of gastric erosion are infections that affect the gastric mucosa; eating excessively heavy, hard, spicy, or hot foods; medicines that destroy the walls of the stomach; stress; chronic pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis, malignant neoplasms in the stomach and colon; regular ingress of pesticides in hazardous production.

With erosion of the stomach, symptoms such as pain in the abdomen (worse after the patient has eaten), vomiting, nausea, belching, blood in the stool, anemia, problems with digestion and bile output, internal bleeding are observed.

Useful products for erosion

The main dishes in the diet of a patient with gastric erosion: steamed cutlets, cereals (especially viscous), vegetable and milk soups, boiled vegetables, loose tea, rosehip decoction, boiled eggs, jelly.

To get rid of cervical erosion it is necessary to get rid of the lack of folic acid, vitamin A, E, C, selenium (it is this deficiency in most cases that is the cause of weakened immunity and hormonal disruption in the female body). To replenish the deficiency, you need to eat bananas, cabbage, asparagus, lentils, veal liver, citrus fruits, brewer’s yeast, green leafy vegetables, hazelnuts and walnuts, vegetable oils, olives, celery and parsnips, seafood, garlic, yellow and orange vegetables.

Traditional medicine for erosion

In order to get rid of erosion of the stomach it is necessary to drink decoctions of St. John’s wort, chamomile, mint, knotweed, celandine, dried apricots, immortelle, on an empty stomach in the morning it is useful to eat a teaspoon of honey or propolis (then you need to drink a glass of warm water). Also, it is useful to drink sea buckthorn oil three times a day, a teaspoon.
