Hand and nail care: natural recipes

Performing regular hand and nail care is essential for keeping hands soft and well groomed, as well as healthy nails. Rather than investing in overpriced care, here are several natural and easy-to-use recipes for effective homemade hand care.

Why take care of your hands?

Our hands are used daily: temperature change, detergents, friction, can damage the hands and nails. When winter approaches, hands are the first to experience extreme temperatures and dry out quickly. Also, by dint of manipulating objects, and in particular products when cleaning, the skin dries up, is damaged and can even have cracks.

When the hands are damaged, it is also the case for the nails: if they are not treated, they become soft, brittle, they split. They can then become painful, and your hands quickly appear neglected. Rather than investing thousands and cents in beauty treatments or cosmetics, why not do homemade hand and nail treatments?

Simple and effective homemade hand care

To take care of your hands, a scrub once a week is essential. Because yes, when you want to moisturize your hands, they must be able to retain hydration and absorb moisturizers. To do this, you must first rid your hands of dead skin. For a homemade exfoliating hand treatment, nothing like honey and sugar!

Mix a teaspoon of brown sugar with a tablespoon of honey. Then add an egg yolk, then mix gently to obtain a smooth cream. You can add a second spoon of sugar for a more exfoliating treatment. Honey and egg yolk will help to hydrate the hands in depth, while the brown sugar will eliminate all the small dead skin.. Gently rub your hands with this homemade hand treatment, then leave on for 5 minutes, before rinsing thoroughly.

In addition to scrubs, moisturizing the hands is essential, especially in winter, to prevent cracks and crevices. To deeply hydrate your hands, nothing could be simpler: mix 4 teaspoons of sweet almond oil with yogurt, half a lemon juice, and a teaspoon of honey. Apply this moisturizer by massaging your hands gently and distributing the mixture well from the nails to the palms of the hands, then leave on for 10 minutes. Your hands will regain softness and suppleness thanks to the moisturizing agents contained in this treatment. Lemon, for its part, will restore shine to your nails. Homemade hand care, easy and effective.

Home care two in one, hands and nails

If your nails are brittle, soft, or have a tendency to split, bet on hand and nail care. For example, olive oil works wonders on damaged nails. Pour a little olive oil in a bowl, before soaking your nails for 5 minutes. At the end of the five minutes, gently massage your nails to make the olive oil penetrate well. This will hydrate the nail and provide it with essential nutrients so that it regains its natural solidity.

You can also opt for a two-in-one hand and nail treatment: mix one part of baking soda with three parts of vegetable oil (almond or castor are perfect). The vegetable oil will help moisturize the hands and nails. The baking soda will remove dead skin for softer hands. In addition, its whitening action will also allow the nails to regain a beautiful whiteness, as after a manicure.

Once your treatment is ready, apply it on the hands, massaging gently, without forgetting to massage the nails. Leave on for 5 minutes. Be careful to respect the dosage on this hand and nail treatment: bicarbonate, used in too large a quantity, can have an abrasive effect.

You can perform the same treatment with lemon juice. Mix two parts of vegetable oil to one part of lemon juice. Again, apply by massaging and leave on for 5 minutes. Lemon juice will strengthen the nails, but above all, it will bring shine, for healthy nails.
