How long to cook turnips in soup?

Turnips will be cooked in soup in 20 minutes. Cook soups with turnips, depending on other ingredients, from 20 minutes: vegetable soups 20-30 minutes, meat soups up to 1,5 hours.

Lean turnip soup

Products

Potatoes – 600 grams

Turnip – 500 grams (2 pieces)

Carrots – 300 grams (2 pieces)

Onions – 200 grams (2 small onions)

Vegetable oil – 5 tablespoons

Water – 3 liters

Bay leaf – 2 leaves

Dill, parsley (dried) – two teaspoons

How to make lean turnip soup

1. Peel the onion.

2. Cut the peeled onion into small cubes: cut the peeled onion in half, cut each half into 5 mm plates, cut the resulting plates in the same way and across.

3. Peel the carrots, cut off the tail, wash well.

4. Cut the carrots across into plates and chop into strips.

5. Peel the potatoes, wash in cold water, cut into cubes with a side of 1,5 centimeters.

6. Peel the turnips, wash and cut into cubes with a side of 1,5 centimeters.

7. Pour oil into a hot skillet, put onions and carrots.

8. Fry vegetables over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring continuously.

9. Boil water, put turnips and potatoes in it, salt.

10. Cook the soup for 5 minutes.

11. Add prepared carrots and onions, dried herbs.

12. Continue cooking the soup for 15 minutes until the potatoes and turnips are tender.

13. Wash the dill and parsley, dry and chop finely.

14. Serve the lean turnip soup, sprinkle finely with herbs.

Soup with meatballs and turnips

Products

Medium carrots – 2 pieces (200 grams)

Medium turnips – 2 pieces (300 grams)

Onions – 1 large onion

Leeks – 100 grams

Allspice – 8 peas

Bay leaf – 4 pieces

Tkemali sauce – 10 tablespoons

Dill and parsley greens – 5 sprigs each

Minced meat (pork or beef) – 600 grams

Chicken egg – 1 piece

Onion – 2 pieces

Ground black pepper – 1 pinch

Salt – 1 pinch

Soup with meatballs and turnips

1. Defrost minced meat, drain excess liquid.

2. Peel the onions set aside for the meatballs.

3. Finely chop the peeled onion.

4. Mix chopped onion with minced meat, add an egg, a pinch of salt, a pinch of ground pepper, mix thoroughly.

5. Cover the minced meat prepared for the meatballs with foil, keep in the cold for 60 minutes.

6. Peel the carrots, wash, cut across into thin slices and chop into strips.

7. Peel and wash the turnips.

8. Cut the prepared turnip into cubes with a side of 1,5 centimeters.

9. Peel the leeks, wash, cut into rings.

10. Place prepared vegetables in a large saucepan and add 4 liters of water.

11. Boil water over medium heat, skimming off the foam.

12. After boiling water, reduce heat and cook the soup for 15 minutes.

13. Salt to taste.

14. Add tkemali sauce, mix well.

15. Shape the minced meatballs and place in the soup.

16. Boil the soup after the meatballs have surfaced for 10 minutes, then add the chopped greens.

17. Let the ready-made soup steep for 15 minutes and serve.
