A ginger beast named Squinty turned out to be extremely docile. He realized that the hostess was pregnant as soon as the belly began to grow. And then he simply “appropriated” the baby for himself.
“I think he immediately realized what was what. Squinty really loved my belly. I just loved to sit on it and bask in it, ”laughs Ellie, the owner of the ginger cat. According to her, Squinty watched closely as she and her husband converted the office into a nursery. And when the repair was finished, he moved there to live.
Squinty is a cat, as they say, of a difficult fate. He got into the Ellie family 15 years ago, when its owners brought the pet to the veterinary clinic for euthanasia. The cat needed an operation, and the then owners of Squinty did not have money for it. Yes, and his name was different – Mango. Ellie also had no money for the operation. She managed to pay it in installments, and the redhead moved in with her.
“He was the coolest cat I’ve ever seen. I don’t know how I could have sent him to sleep, ”Ellie wonders.
The operation went well. But another problem came to light: it turned out that the cat was deaf. At all. “We thought he was just lazy and sleepy, so he doesn’t run to the call. However, deafness did not interfere with the cat’s life. And soon he received a new name – Squinty, which means “squinting”. “He has such a face, as if he is looking at you all the time,” smiles Ellie.
During the 15 years that Squinty has lived with a new mistress, he moved with her six times, saw her getting married, looked favorably at the pets that appeared in the house one after another: Ellie has a dog and another cat. When the girl became pregnant, she was advised to move Squinty away. And the rest of the animals too.
“My friends and family turned out to be incredibly superstitious people. They said in all seriousness that a cat can steal a child’s breath, says Ellie. “I was only worried about the crib. After all, in fact, this is a big box. And everyone knows what cats love to do with boxes. “
Squinty really loved the crib with all his heart. And when Ellie’s daughter, Willow, was born, he fell in love with her too.

The cat sleeps only next to the baby: in her own crib or in the parent’s bed (where he did not allow himself to climb before). Mom was worried that this friendship would come to an end: the kids grab the wool very tightly. But Squinty was incredibly patient. The maximum that he allows himself is to gently push the baby’s hand with his paw. But to release claws – never.
