Nutrition for shock

General description of the disease

A shock is a combination of disorders of the heart, respiration, as well as neuro-endocrine regulation and metabolism due to excessive irritation.

The reasons:

A state of shock occurs when a person’s blood circulation decreases to a critical minimum, for example, as a result of large blood loss, dehydration, allergies, sepsis, or diseases of the cardiovascular system.

Symptoms:

  • Fear or excitement;
  • Blueness of lips and nails;
  • Chest pain;
  • Disorientation;
  • Dizziness, fainting, decreased blood pressure, pallor;
  • Wet frosty skin;
  • Stopping or contraction of urination, increased sweating;
  • Fast pulse and shallow breathing;
  • Powerlessness, unconsciousness.

Views:

There are several types of shock, depending on the cause. Basic:

  1. 1 Painful;
  2. 2 Hemorrhagic (as a result of blood loss);
  3. 3 Cardiogenic;
  4. 4 Hemolytic (with blood transfusion of another group);
  5. 5 Traumatic;
  6. 6 Burning;
  7. 7 Infectious toxic;
  8. 8 Anaphylactic (in response to an allergen), etc.

Healthy foods for shock

Shock treatment consists primarily in eliminating its cause, the disease that led to such a condition. The nutrition of such a patient also directly depends on this. Therefore:

  • In case of burn shock, it is necessary to choose products that will prevent dehydration of the body, correct metabolic processes, remove toxins from the body and stimulate its protective functions. Boiled or steamed food is preferred. Lean meat (beef, rabbit, chicken) and lean fish (pike perch, hake) are suitable. Meat will saturate the body with iron and proteins, and fish – with useful polyunsaturated fatty acids of the omega class, as well as iodine, potassium, magnesium, bromine, cobalt and vitamins A, B, D, PP. They not only increase efficiency and add vital energy to a person, but also help in the creation of cell membranes, as well as in the normalization of the cardiovascular system. Therefore, fish will be useful in cardiogenic shock as well.
  • It is good to eat milk and dairy products. If we are talking about burn shock, it is necessary to consult a doctor about nutrition, since if a person has a severe burn, the doctor can exclude lactic acid products (kefir, yogurt) so as not to burden the stomach and not cause bloating. Milk contains protein, is well absorbed and even helps fight infection due to the immunoglobulins that are produced from this product. Thus, it is recommended for people with infectious toxic shock. Milk also lowers blood pressure and has soothing properties. In addition, it lowers the acidity of the stomach and has a beneficial effect on the skin. Kefir, due to its calming effect, helps with neuroses and disorders of the nervous system. Cheese contains vitamins A and B, has a beneficial effect on the skin, helps the body fight infection and toxins, and reduces appetite.
  • It is useful to eat vegetable oils (olive, sunflower, corn). They saturate the body with vitamins A, D, E, F, as well as trace elements. These products help with circulatory disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity. They normalize metabolism, have wound healing properties, and increase immunity.
  • It is also recommended to eat cereals, especially buckwheat, due to the high content of nutrients. They saturate the body with fiber and help it fight heart disease. In addition, buckwheat is indispensable for cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus, as it contains magnesium and potassium. Pearl barley saturates the body with B vitamins and antioxidants, helping it fight harmful toxins and boosting its immunity. Rice is useful because of the high content of folic acid, thiamine and carotene, which are involved in the processes of hematopoiesis and normalize metabolism, as well as remove harmful salts from the body. Millet improves digestion, and oatmeal prevents the appearance of cholesterol, protecting the walls of blood vessels. Sometimes doctors may advise the use of semolina, as it saturates the body well and is easily absorbed.
  • You can eat vegetables and non-acidic fruits in the form of jelly, mousse, jelly, as they saturate the body with useful vitamins and minerals, increasing its immunity. You can cook vegetable soups, they are also well absorbed and have a beneficial effect on the digestive system. In addition, the boiled vegetables that they contain retain their entire vitamin set.
  • From the liquid, you can take juices of non-acidic fruits diluted with water (they saturate the body with minerals and vitamins and increase immunity), weak tea with milk (it is recommended for infections, poisoning, cardiovascular diseases, exhaustion, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract due to the content of amino acids in tea, which combine well with milk emulsion), as well as a rosehip decoction (it lowers blood pressure and increases immunity, has a beneficial effect on the processes of hematopoiesis, as well as the cardiovascular system.However, people suffering from thrombosis, gastritis and hypervitaminosis C should consult a doctor before its use).

First aid for shock

First aid to a person who is in shock is the elimination or at least weakening of the cause that caused the shock. Usually, ammonia helps in this, which is given to the victim to smell, warming with heating pads, tea, which is offered to the patient. You can also give alcohol or vodka to drink, or just analgin, and be sure to call an ambulance.

If the cause of the shock is bleeding, it is necessary to apply a pressure bandage, and if there is a fracture, then immobilization. If the shock is caused by water (from drowning), fire (from asphyxiation by carbon monoxide), or chemicals (from burns), eliminate them. And the main thing is to remember that timely medical assistance can save a person’s life.

Dangerous and harmful foods in shock

Since shock is the result of illness, injury, allergen or blood transfusion, the list of hazardous foods is directly related to these aspects. But,

  • It is undesirable to consume drinks with caffeine, as it negatively affects the nervous system, and can provoke complications of diseases.
  • Excessive consumption of sweets can cause disruption of the gastrointestinal tract and, as a result, stress on the body.
  • Alcoholic drinks are harmful as they poison the body with toxins.
  • Excessively fatty foods, as well as spicy, smoked, salty, canned foods, contribute to the formation of cholesterol and have an adverse effect on the cardiovascular system.
  • Mushrooms are excluded, as they create a burden on the body during digestion.
  • With burn shock, lactic acid foods and hard-boiled eggs may be excluded, since they overload the gastrointestinal tract.
