Vata dosha imbalance symptoms

The symptoms of Vata dosha disorder, the leading constitution according to the classification of Ayurveda, are restlessness, nervousness, fear, feelings of loneliness, insecurity, hyperactivity, dizziness and confusion. The predominance of Vata also manifests itself in increased excitability, restless sleep, fear of commitment and forgetfulness. The constant accumulation of Vata in the body leads to chronic insomnia, mental instability and depression. Early signs of Vata dosha imbalance include belching, hiccups, gurgling in the intestines, excessive thirst, gas, bloating, and constipation. Irregular appetite, weight loss, dry mouth, hemorrhoids and dry stools are also indicative of excessive Vata. Excess Vata in these parts of the body manifests itself in goosebumps, dry lips, skin and hair, split ends, cracked skin, cuticles and dandruff. It can also cause pale, dull skin, poor circulation, cold extremities, weak sweat, eczema, and psoriasis. More severe stages are characterized by dehydration, brittle hair and nails, defective nails, destruction of blood vessels, and varicose veins. The accumulation of Vata in these systems leads to uncoordinated movements, weakness, muscle fatigue, muscle pain, joint cracking, tingling, numbness, and sciatica. An old imbalance of Vata is expressed in muscle atrophy, scoliosis, fibromyalgia, urinary incontinence, convulsions, paralysis, fainting, Parkinson’s disease.
