3 main life hacks when choosing oysters
 

Buying oysters is no longer a problem. Someone feasts on them on rare occasions, someone has long made them a habitual dish. But for the first and second, it is important to know by what criteria you should choose oysters. 

In order to be fully armed when buying these seafood, we turned to the advice of the “Inspector: Stores” team. So, in one of the episodes, the host of the program, Irina Khomenko, talked about 3 consumer life hacks.

1. The buyer should always remember that oysters are eaten alive. Therefore, in stores, shellfish must be kept in an aquarium or in ice. When you bring your oysters home, be sure to place them in cold water.

 

2. How to make sure the oyster is alive? Open it with a special knife, and then pour lemon juice on the clam itself. If the meat does not cut, then the oyster is dead. And, accordingly, unusable.

3. Pay attention to oyster shells. Although they are asymmetric in nature, they should be intact – without a single hint of chips or cracks.
