Ginger root is used dried, fresh, pickled, depending on which version is appropriate. The taste of ginger is harmoniously applied to any dishes-both sweet and salty. In India, there are even several types of ginger flour. By the way, the pink shade of ginger is achieved artificially, there is no pink root in nature.

Ginger powder is convenient to use when preparing broths, and, for example, marinate meat with a fresh grated root.

When to add ginger:

  • add ginger to the meat 15 minutes before it is ready,
  • in the sauce-after cooking,
  • in baking during kneading the dough,
  • and in sweet dishes for a couple of minutes before cooking. 

Ginger root contains a lot of vitamin C, as well as A and B, magnesium, zinc, essential oils, useful amino acids. Where can I use ginger in cooking?

Ginger Tea

This tea is more relevant than ever now, during the rampage of all kinds of acute respiratory infections. It will strengthen the immune system and aromatically brighten up the course of the disease. The easiest option is to add a little grated ginger to your favorite tea that has already been brewed. Adjust the dose according to your taste and sharpness.

A more complicated option is to pour boiling water over a teaspoon of ginger, boil for 5 minutes, and after removing it from the heat, add honey, lemon, cinnamon. Ginger also goes well with orange.

Ginger ice cream

For the ginger taste of ice cream, you need to be a fan of such a combination – a frosty sweet dessert and a slightly burning shavings of juicy ginger. Especially successful is the duet of banana or lemon ice cream with a sharp ginger root. In any case, you should definitely try and decide whether this is your dessert or not.

Prepare the ice cream yourself: mix a glass of sugar, a glass of water, corn syrup and 3 teaspoons of grated ginger. Cook, stirring, for a couple of minutes, and then add a glass of yogurt, a glass of cream and 3 tablespoons of lemon juice interspersed with lemon zest to the cooled dessert. Mix it and put it in an ice cream maker.

Candied ginger

This is a very tasty dessert and an alternative to high-calorie chocolate sweets. Ready-made candied ginger can be stored for several months, adding them to tea or eating them just like that.

You can add ginger to pastries-cookies, pies and gingerbread, thereby increasing their usefulness. Combine ginger in baking with lemon, cinnamon, apples, honey, mint and nuts.

Pickled ginger

This seasoning is quite spicy, and therefore it is contraindicated for people suffering from diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Take 200 ml of rice vinegar (apple or wine), 3 tablespoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of salt, 8-9 tablespoons of water and 200 grams of fresh ginger rubbed with salt. Pour water over the ginger, dry it and cut it thinly, hold it in boiling water for a couple of minutes. Put the ginger in a colander, transfer the ginger to a dry jar, pour the marinade of vinegar, water, salt, sugar. Ginger is marinated in this way for several days.
