Hearing development in newborns

It would seem that the development and growth of a person has long been figured out. Medicine is now space, scientists are starting one study after another, but experts still cannot agree on some things.

The famous designer and part-time father of ten children, Artemy Lebedev, once said that newborns hear absolutely nothing. Therefore, it makes no sense to talk to a child in the womb, all the more to turn on some kind of music for him. On the other hand, the fact that Artemy is a father of many children does not yet make him an expert in everything related to the development of children. We decided to find out when the children actually begin to hear.

Scientists claim that babies do hear a lot of sounds before they are born. First, it is the beating of the mother’s heart. Secondly, sounds, sorry, peristalsis. Third, mom’s voice and other sounds, if they are loud enough. After birth, hearing continues to develop. This method of perception is fully formed by the age of one month. But the child can start reacting to sounds later: it is one thing to hear, another thing to give feedback. This, too, must be learned. We have compiled a graph for you to develop hearing in babies from the moment of birth.

Newborns

Soon after birth, the baby will begin to pay attention to different sounds. Especially high-pitched sounds. Your baby will try to answer you when you sing lullabies. Loud or harsh sounds can be scary.

After a few weeks, the baby will begin to react to the noise – he may turn to the sound of your voice, for example. And he will even try to answer – gurgling, for example. But in some cases, children do not pay attention to the speaker or even turn away from him. This does not necessarily mean that the baby is not hearing. Perhaps he just got bored.

4 month

At this age, the child begins to give out emotions in response to certain sounds, his reactions become meaningful. He may even please you with a smile when you speak to him. And when you are chatting with your toddler, he may try to copy the sounds you make.

6-7 months

The kid begins to show curiosity not only for your voice, but also for others. Now extraneous loud sounds no longer frighten the child – he is trying to understand where they are coming from and respond.

12 months

By this age, the child should already be able to recognize most of the sounds that he hears all the time. Including your favorite songs.

How to help your child develop hearing

– Sing lullabies and nursery rhymes to your child every day. This will help your baby learn to focus on sounds.

– Play music often, dance and clap your hands to the beat.

– Read to your child from birth. It’s never too early to introduce your little one to the world of words. Reading aloud, among other things, will help the child to become addicted to reading. And this, you see, is a great hobby. And a good bedtime ritual.

– Sounds awful, but still. Buy musical and talking toys for your child. Not too much, not too loud – so you don’t go crazy.

– For an older child, you can buy a toy musical instrument. This will be a good training not only for hearing, but also for creativity.
