10-year-old boy invented a device to rescue children forgotten in a car

Bishop’s neighbor Curry died a terrible death: he was left alone in a car under the scorching sun. A terrible incident prompted the boy to think about how to avoid such tragedies.

Probably everyone remembers the terrible incident when the adoptive parents forgot the boy, adopted from Russia, in the car. The car was so hot under the sun that the body of a two-year-old baby could not stand it: when the father returned to the car, in the cabin he found the lifeless body of his son. This is how Dima Yakovlev’s law was born, prohibiting foreigners from adopting children from Russia. Dima Yakovlev – that was the name of the deceased boy until he was taken to the States. He died when he was already Chase Harrison. His adoptive father was put on trial. The man was sentenced to ten years in prison for manslaughter.

In Russia, we have not heard of such cases yet. Maybe our parents are more responsible, maybe there is no such heat. Although no, no, yes, and there are reports that a dog has been forgotten in the car in the hot parking lot. And then the whole city goes to save her.

In the United States, more than 700 cases of deaths of children in cars have been counted since 1998. Most recently, 10-year-old Bishop Curry’s neighbor, who lives in Texas, died of heatstroke in a locked car. Little Fern was only six months old.

The terrible incident impressed the boy so much that he decided to figure out how to avoid such tragedies in the future. After all, preventing them is actually very easy: you just need to open the door in time.

The boy came up with a device called Oasis – a small smart gadget that controls the temperature inside the car. As soon as the air heats up to a certain level, the device begins to release cold air and simultaneously sends a signal to parents and to the rescue service.

The prototype of the device still exists only in the form of a clay model. To raise money for the creation of a working version of Oasis, Bishop’s father posted the project on GoFundMe – people interested in creating it throw off money. Now the little inventor has already managed to collect almost $ 29 thousand. The initial goal was set at 20 thousand.

“It was not only my parents who helped me, but teachers and friends as well,” says Bishop gratefully.

In general, enough money has already been collected to patent the device and build a working version of it. And Bishop already understood what he wants to do when he grows up: the boy plans to become an inventor. His dream is to come up with a time machine. Who knows if it will work out?
